Boston Qualifier/Qualified (BQ) (noun, verb)-Qualifying for the Boston Marathon is a goal on many people’s running lists. The times are quite competitive for most runners. Qualifying times are a bit controversial. As the website states, just running the qualifying time does not guarantee your entry into the race. Most years, it is necessary to run around 2.5 minutes faster in order to get into the popular and famous race.

After four marathon attempts, Mary finally BQed by three minutes and will be racing this April! 


Personal Record (PR) (noun, verb)-Your best time in an event. Also known as PB (personal best).
