Wowza. I am way behind on my training log posting game. So, here’s some catch up! Thank God for running watches and that I kept up to date on Instagram…
(What I Was Supposed to Do: Easy 6 miles)
What I Did: Knew Tuesday was not going to be great day for running, let alone a workout due to scheduling stuff (was at the hospital at 6AM until class in the afternoon, a meeting at 5PM, and then a meeting with a potential wedding caterer at 6:30PM, with bedtime around 9:30-10PMish!), so opted to move my hard workouts up a day earlier this week. Ended up having a ridiculously long day at the hospital on Monday, though-we are supposed to only be at the hospital until 5PM each day, but we went into an OR case at 4:45PM and there was still paperwork to be completed for the next day, so I didn’t end up leaving until 7PM. :O I was worried because the gym closes at 9PM so I skimped on the warm-up, but still got it done because I’m like that:
1 mile warm-up
400 (1:36), 800 (3:10), 1200 (4:45), 1600 (6:13), 1200 (4:43), 800 (3:01), 400 (1:27) with 400 rest on the treadmill
1.25 mile cool-down? (This is what happens when I don’t write things down/don’t use my watch wahhh)
8 miles total
Day 36/120 of #bostonmarathon2017 Training: Woof, was today SUCH a Monday for anyone else?! 🐶 Started off Gynecology Oncology with a bang: a postmenopausal bleeding consult and five surgeries, including four exploratory laparotomies/hysterectomies, made my 13 hour day with little down time fly by! The last thing I wanted to do after work was trudge to the gym in this "wintry mix" and bang out a speed workout on the treadmill, buuuut got it done and hit all of my paces! And then the hail mauled me on my way home. Aaaaand now it's past my bedtime. 🏃🏻♀️❄️😴
(What I Was Supposed to Do: Speed 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, 400 with 400 recovery (5k goal of 19:30-20:00))
What I Did: OFF
(What I Was Supposed to Do: OFF)
What I Did: Was not feeling this workout at all. I’ve been feeling pretty tired in general lately, to be honest, and my legs, mind, and heart just weren’t as excited to do this tempo as they usually are. Part of it is just feeling tired from long hours, I think, but part of it is definitely getting sick of running on the treadmill. Still a very good pace if you ask me! Totally skimped on the cool-down because a quick visit to Phil in the library turned into an hour long conversation about our days and then I was too cold to run back home! 😀
2 mile warm-up
7 mile tempo in 48:21 (6:54 pace; 7:04, 7:02, 7:03, 6:59, 6:52, 6:48, 6:30) on the treadmill
0.5 mile cool-down
9.5 miles total
Day 38/120 of #bostonmarathon2017 Training: When you're having a meh week, but keep on smiling because what else can ya do? 😬 Took an entire month to muster up the courage to rock this awesome tank, and it definitely gave me some extra speedy vibes on my 7 mile tempo (48:21; 6:54 pace) on the #dreadmill! 🏃🏻♀️💨✌️
(What I Was Supposed to Do: Tempo 7 miles at 7:26 pace (goal = 3:15 marathon :O ))
What I Did: 6.09 miles in 59:00 (9:41 pace) with Phil!
(What I Was Supposed to Do: Easy 7 miles)
What I Did: 5.59 miles (55:27; 9:55 pace) with Phil!
You are a minute of quiet in a loud, shouting world.-#gabrielgadfly ••• Day 40/120 of #bostonmarathon2017 Training: So blessed to have someone in my life who can turn an exhausted, moody me into a giggling, smiling (although still pretty exhausted, tbh) me in just 5.5 miles! Also realized I'd better get over my fear of sounding pretentious and start using the word "fiancé" more liberally because it won't last forever! 😉🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻💍💗
(What I Was Supposed to Do: Easy 8 miles)
What I Did: 8.39 miles (1:23:42; 9:59 pace)
And if you're thinking that you'd like to quit, that's fine, you never wanted it anyway.-@coin 🎵🏃🏻♀️ ••• Day 41/120 of #bostonmarathon2017 Training: To be honest, I haven't felt much like running this week. I recognize it's pretty hard to stay singlemindedly focused on and excited about one thing for 18 weeks without an occasional loss of motivation, but the miles are just so much easier to log when you are loving each step! Slogged through 8.5 miles in between loads of laundry and hoping to regain some inspiration soon. 🙂 Hoping everyone is having an awesome weekend!
(What I Was Supposed to Do: Long 14miles)
What I Did: 15.54 miles (1:59:01; 7:40 pace) with mid-long run 15K PR (1:08:34; 7:21 pace) as a part of the HMRRC Winter Series!
Day 42/120 of #bostonmarathon2017 Training: Things I wasn't expecting today: casual mid-long run 15k PR (1:08:34/7:21 pace say whaaaaat) and a rare @moiraleigh03 sighting with half a mile to go! 15.5 miles total for the day makes for 53 miles total for week 6 of #marathontraining. ••• Long runs used to just be about survival, so trying to maintain a decent pace over many miles is a new (and scary) mindset for me. I might have taken it a little overboard today, but my legs felt awesome so I just went with it! Here's to hoping my excitement doesn't come back to bite me later this week! 🙂🏃🏻♀️✌️
